Somehow or another, I've not got back to Wry Vita for over a week.  Life is busy.  I've been glued to my computer screen for long hours every day, yes including Saturday and Sunday.  I was even on the phone to GoDaddy on Friday night till almost midnight sorting out a domain problem for a client.

I'm not proud of that but nor am I beating myself up too badly over this.  When you're starting a business (as I am with ReadySteadyBlog) it often necessitates working harder than you'd ever work for someone else.  I am loving it, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it, but I need to be careful to take a break and not let it become a permanent habit.

So I'm just trying to remember what has happened for me in the last week that is fun, exciting or newsworthy...

The Secret of Happiness

A walker noticed an old lady sitting on her front step, so he walked up to her and said,

'I couldn't help noticing how happy you look! What is your secret?'   

'I smoke ten cigars a day,' she said.

'Before I go to bed, I smoke a nice big joint.

Apart from that, I drink a whole bottle of Jack Daniels every week, and eat only junk food.

On week-ends, I pop pills, get laid, and do no other exercise at all.'

'That is absolutely amazing!  How old are you?'

'Twenty-four,' she replied.

Happy Baarthday, Berni

Happy birthday to my favourite sister-in-law who is celebrating her 70th birthday today.  No, come to think of it, she's not quite 70 yet but she will be soon.  Today in fact she is 48 so you could say she's staring 70 in the face.

Not like that poor lamb.  I met Berni for lunch today and she gave me this story about how she was driving along the road and found this lamb wandering down the road on his own so scooped him up and returned him to his mum.

I expect he was simply on the way to the baarber, perhaps his Baa Mitzvah is coming up. 
I've not seen said lamb so can't confirm his present whereabouts but Berni is skipping round, collecting mint from the garden with a large grin on her face.

When she's not being incredibly annoying, I quite like her actually.  But please, please don't tell her I said that.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Are we all watching S'ralan and his rather exasperating apprentices on Wednesday nights then?

Who to feel sorrier for?  S'ralan who has strict instructions from the Beeb to play the tiger even when he wants to awaken the pussy within, or those clueless young business brains who are going through hell for a one in 16 chance of earning £100K over at S'ralan's place.

The Apprentice has been a top favourite for me ever since the first American series was shown with the Donald even though it's yet another example of the lengths to which people will go for a bit of fame and fortune.

Of course, if we are to take them at their word, the apprentices all believe they are The One.  Like Ian this week, insisting

"Losing is a word I can't even bring myself to say, it's not in my vocabulary". 

Shame then that he lost the Challenge and got sacked... as should any team leader who could make a decision to stock his Italian restaurant with retail-priced mince beef and Dolmio sauce.

Talking of money, who wants to be a millionaire?  According to Judith Morgan, writing in her EFT blog, Tap to the Top, the answer is a truly shocking one so hold on tight to your Lotto ticket while I reveal her answer:

Did you notice I felt obliged to start yesterday's post with an apology for having been away so long?  What am I like?

But did you notice how I did that?  By justifying my absence with an excuse for why I couldn't blog for two months.  Pathetic or what.  In fairness to me - as none of you are jumping to my defence - I could have given you lots of reasons, rather than just one, for not blogging.

So tell me.  How big is your but?

Bless Me, Bloggees, For I have Sinned

You don't know how much I've been looking forward to this moment.  Two months since my last post.  Bless me, bloggees, for I have sinned...

Ironically, the very thing that has kept me away from my beloved WryVita, is blogging.  I have been utterly engrossed in designing other people's blogs and blogsites for them and loving every moment.  The adult equivalent of colouring pictures or making pirate ships out of Cornflakes boxes, surely.

These days, of course, no-one's eating Cornflakes the way they useta.  Now, it's Coco Pops,Chocolate Weetos, ChoccieBix Squares and ChocPops.  Made the last two up, I think, to prove my point that anything goes for breakfast as long as it has chocolate in it.

Though, chocoholic that I am, that's the one thing I draw the line at.  Anyway, I don't want to talk about chocolate.  I want to talk about Dennis and laughter and maybe other stuff.
